As we approach the most unique Draft of the 21st century where lots of players have had pro days cancelled and team visits and interviews have been scaled down to Zoom conference calls due to the current global Covid 19 situation. The Broncos have two main areas of need, Left Tackle where Garrett Bolles has run out of chances and Wide Receiver as a higher quality of talent is needed alongside Courtland Sutton for Drew Lock. The Draft has a lot of depth at Wide Receiver and is decent at Tackle, but there are a lot of teams in the market for both of these positions. I have used the mock draft system at
https://thedraftnetwork.com/mock-draft-machine for my Mock Drafts and would recommend this website for your own Mock Draft. This is a no trade draft at the moment, but I will look at the Broncos options with a trade next week as I fear that all of the tackles and receivers will be taken by the 15th pick.
Round one: Pick 15
In version 1.0 I went for Henry Ruggs III from Alabama, but his stock has risen since the combine where he ran the 40 yard dash in 4.27 seconds which was the quickest time this year. Teams are looking for elite speed and Ruggs has risen up many people’s boards where he is now predicted to be either the first or second receiver taken. Ceedee Lamb also had an impressive combine where he snagged some impressive catches and performed well in the drills, he has been taken as high as second overall in some drafts but is always off the board by the time the Broncos are picking. The third wide receiver is Jerry Jeudy who is a fine player, it seems that to be absolutely certain of securing the services of one of the top three that they may need to trade up, possibly via a trade with San Francisco for one of our third round picks. Jeudy is occasionally there and would be my pick as this point in an ideal world.
The luxury the Broncos have is, it seems that if they miss out on one of these three men then one of the top Tackles in the Draft Andrew Thomas from Georgia is available. Broncos country would be ecstatic with Jeudy as he has the potential to be a generational receiver, but Thomas would be a very talented consolation.

Round Two: pick 46
This is the logical round to pick up a tackle and usually there are two left tackle options in round two. Ezra Cleveland from Boise State or Austin Jackson from USC. There was one mock which threw up Laviska Shenault from Colorado as a second round pick for Denver, he has fallen down the board’s due to his poor performance at the combine which was exacerbated by him carrying an injury which adds to concerns about his ability to stay fit. I would go for Jackson here and let him work with Mike Munchak when the teams are allowed to gather. This would signal the end of Garret Bolles in Denver and I can see him moving on for a late round pick. At 6ft 6inches and weighing in at 310lbs Cleveland will be a big obstacle in front of Drew Lock.

Round Three:
If we don’t trade up in round one, we will have three picks in round three and I feel this is the make or break round.
Pick 77- Antonio Gibson -Memphis A must pick if he is still on the board, having declared himself as a wide receiver as opposed to a running back, Gibson can play the same role as Shenault Jr but has a better injury history. The former JUCO player has impressed at the senior Bowl and in his senior season and would add extra speed and strength to the Broncos. I rate Gibson so highly, that I’d back him to come in and have a similar impact to Alvin Kamara who was also picked in the third round. Gibson may rise higher than the 3rd round in the next few weeks but I really want to see him coming to the Broncos.

Pick 83 Bryce Hall -Virginia- He is a ball hawk and has broken up passing plays frequently in his time in Virginia. The draft network compare him to James Bradberry and Hall will be an upgrade on Issac Yiadom, Hall is also an effective tackler and fronts up against the run game well.
Pick 93 Tyler Biadasz- Wisconsin. – With Connor McGovern hooking up with the Jets the Broncos are in need of a Center. Biadasz has been the leader of the Wisconsin offensive line that Jonathan Taylor has feasted behind. Biadasz has fallen down the board slightly due to the knee injury he experienced which put him out of the combine. Biadasz offers fantastic value at pick 93 and would be a plug and play starter at Mile High stadium. Biadasz flanked by Risner and Glasgow along with Cleveland at Left Tackle and Ja’Wuan James at Right Tackle should offer ample protection for Drew Lock.

Next time I will finish off the draft for the Broncos and look at what value is available in the latter stages of the Draft.
