A Damn Good subscription… BSN Denver Subscription review.

Hey guys,I thought I would share some reviews of the sports subscriptions I have over the next few weeks. With the NFL season fast approaching I have decided to start with a review directed at anyone interested in the Denver Broncos. I have followed the team since 2011, and lived a charmed life as a Broncos fan in the Peyton Manning years, until the last three seasons where a lack of an elite Quarterback amongst other factors has seen performances deteriorate. I have remained an avid fan and have sought as much Broncos coverage as possible over the years.

The Podcast is available via the App and from all the usual Podcast providers.

I stumbled across the BSN Denver Broncos podcast a few years ago when it was presented by Brandon Krisztal and Ryan Koenigsberg and have been a regular listener since. I hate to admit that I was a lurker who resisted subscribing to the BSN Denver site (See more here) for a long time. I bit the bullet this summer after Ryan, Zac Stevens and the rest of the guys at BSN offered a great value deal which included a free T shirt from the impressive Merch store. The membership is already great value for money, a 12 month subscription with a free t shirt is still available for $44.99 or £37.00,a bargain given the huge array of content.

The Podcast is a staple of my weekday commute, with the guys producing five podcasts a week in the regular season. This increased even more during training camp where you genuinely had the impression that Ryan and Zac were losing track of the days such was the volume of their work. The guys are an effervescent duo who cover the Broncos in a humorous yet honest manner and allow fans from far and wide to keep their finger on the pulse of mile high life. The podcast alone is worth the subscription price, but it’s FREE to download off all good podcast services. The regular season draft podcasts are hosted by Andre Simone whose meticulous approach offers an insight into potential future Broncos. This has been a particularly enjoyable feature for me as College football is not well covered in the UK. The Podcast has that unique feeling which only the best podcasts have, the more you listen the more you feel you know the guys which has led to the unique BSN family. Warning for any UK fans, you will be craving a Strawberry Sky Beer which you will be hard pressed to find over here.

The teams covered by BSN Denver.

I subscribed with the intention of getting more information on the Broncos, but the membership is an all-inclusive package. BSN covers not one but SIX franchises all based in the Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins area. Alongside the Broncos, The Denver Nuggets (Basketball), Colorado Rockies (Baseball), Colorado Avalanche (Ice Hockey), Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State Rams from college football are covered. The college teams have recently been added to the package, which has added a new level to the amount of content offered. The detail of coverage is consistent and allows for a full 12 month experience of Colorado sports with each team having dedicated reporters adding their personal touch to the coverage the reader can relate to.

The App is well designed and easy to use, the option of bonus audio stories is a cool touch and this is an exclusive for the subscriber. You would not hear these on the free podcast. Each story published has an audio option where the piece is read by the author, a feature many people can benefit from. The articles come thick and fast just like the podcasts and the work ethic of the team reflects the passion they have for their company. The jewel in the crown of the BSN Denver subscription though is undoubtedly the level of interaction subscribers can have with the team. Every podcast comment and question is read out and answered on the podcast, leading to some super long podcasts as the guys work their way through each new subscriber’s question. It does not end there, the team organises social events and meet ups where the BSN team sink some cold snacks and play some Beer pong with the more local members. They have already organised a bar crawl sponsored by the Breckenridge brewery which saw fans meet up at the Blake Street Tavern in July. A Die hard watch party was also another social attended by the team and members. In addition, there is an interactive golf challenge competition where the winner gets tickets to a regular season game. The team gives back to the fans who invest in them which is a breath of fresh air in the modern day.

The BSN film room feature provides exclusive video content on all of the featured teams. Andre comprehensively breaks down lots of key game footage in content which sets BSN apart from it’s rivals. This feature is set to go into overdrive as the regular season unfolds.

The Merch section is a unique feature, the original designs will spike the interest of the fans of all the BSN teams. The team have dedicated designs to local man Phillip Lindsay and the addition of the college teams has bolstered the department, seeing the creation of my favourite t-shirt ,the Sko Buffs design. When I ordered my Phillip Lindsay homegrown jersey Lindsey from the merchandise department emailed a message of thanks within 24 hours. Lindsey communicated clearly and efficiently as I waited for my t shirt to make the journey across the Atlantic. Ironically, it took longer to get from Heathrow to my house than it did to get from Denver to Heathrow but hey! The designs on offer will enable a UK based fan to have T shirts or Hoodies which set them apart from their peers, plus your knowledge of all things Broncos will be on a superior level due to the superb coverage BSN Denver provides.

Overall this is a fantastic product which provides plenty of bang for its buck. I would encourage anyone to subscribe, but think UK Broncos fans will especially reap the rewards of the membership by immersing themselves in the coverage provided. For my first review this scores a brilliant 9/10 with the only factor stopping me from going higher is the evident potential of the team to continue their exponential growth, as well as the geographical distance preventing me from attending socials in Denver (no fault of BSN!). I get the feeling that the pace this organisation is moving at predicts a bright future.

Many thanks to Ryan at BSN Denver for giving me the permission to use the screenshots of the BSN app in this review.
