Aaron wainwright- A whirlwind 18 months has caught up with the ex Cardiff city academy player. Wainwright has looked a little bit off his best and will also benefit from a rest to see him continue his progress. Gatland has labelled him as a potential lion next year due to his immense talent.
Owen Watkin- Has not featured due to him returning to fitness halfway through the six nations, will want to have a few months of fitness behind him before he wins his next cap.
Rhys Webb- After a protracted saga with Toulon he has now been released and confirmed that he is returning to the liberty stadium next season with the Ospreys, in the meantime he has signed for Bath and played against Bristol in the second fallow week. Webb appeared to be sluggish against Italy but looked like the same player who last played for Wales in 2017 as he probed the fringes against England and created a try for Justin Tipuric.

Liam Williams – Returned from his world cup injury against England, and was expected to slot back in. He didn’t play badly against England but needs game time to return to his best. He has joined the Scarlets due to the fallout of the Saracens salary cap breach and will look to make the same impact to the team as he did during his first spell. World class player when fit.
Owen Williams – There’s bad injury luck and then there is Owen Williams injury luck. He was named in his first Wales squad since 2017 and was set to appear off the bench in Dublin. Until he tore his hamstring in the warm up and is now out for the rest of the season. He is out of contract this summer and has not announced his new destination as of yet (see my transfer article here)
Tomos Williams- He had an off day against Ireland where he made a few mistakes which cost Wales dearly, but he also crossed for a try showing his attacking verve. Williams will want to keep hold of his jersey but faces a fierce battle with Rhys Webb and Gareth Davies, Rhodri Williams is also playing well for the Dragons.
Wales need to improve their Defensive structure which has been exposed to far, espeically against France where our lineout defense was exposed by the behemoth French pack. Another facet of the game that has frustrated me is our lineout calling where we never seem to match up our attacking intention, we take high risk throws on key areas and then leave ourselves exposed due to the throw being unsuccesful. It’s not the time to panic yet as Wayne Pivac still acquaintances himself to the squad, it’s the infancy of s four year cycle and instant success does not always happen, espeically when a squad has just got over a heartbreaking and exhausting World Cup.
